23/05/2024: Although there was a slight glitch in the reservation, the staff (the host and the chef) welcomed us. We felt very fortunate to get in, as this is a small place with an excellent reputation, ( most of the other patrons seemed to be locals). That reputation is well-deserved, because this was one of the best dining experiences we had in France. It was a nice change to dine away from the tourists. The chef uses a lot of local ingredients and prepared an excellent meal for us. Although our host's English was limited, between that and my challenged French, he made good recommendations and was very friendly. I highly recommend this place, though I do so somewhat reluctantly because I almost hate for this little gem to be discovered!

04/05/2024: If my stroll through the streets of Saint Malo left me thinking for a long time that we were in the kingdom of the creperie, at the bend of an alley we had the happiness, the luck or perhaps the intuition to return in this small establishment, simple but charming, elegant but unpretentious. A pearl hidden behind the tourist food vendors, a pearl where you can find real Malouins. A traditional, totally homemade cuisine where vegetables take a good place on the plates offering a choice of meat and fish. Starter, main course and dessert everything was perfect and for a more than reasonable price. Thanks to its enthusiasts who revive our taste buds.

23/03/2024: A small restaurant where you have to go in Saint Malo. Excellent grilled cuisine, impeccable service, the owner and the waitress are very friendly. Superb plate of tapas as a starter and duck breasts for us. It was hearty and succulent. Our neighbors' meat plates weren't bad at all either.

14/05/2024: L'endroit est très sympa. L'accueil est super et la nourriture au top. Tout est bon, de saison et plein de saveurs. Et c'est ouvert le lundi soir :-)

17/05/2024: Arrêt un midi sur la route. Les plats sont bons , cuisinés maison et au feu de cheminée. un bémol ..nous sommes patients mais .. 50 mn d'attente pour deux grillades ( nous n'avions pas pris d'entrée.;) , 8 clients dans la salle .. c'est un peu long pour nous. Le pied de cochon était très bon mais tellement tourné et retourné sur le grill qu'il ne restait plus beaucoup à manger. Dommage, nous avons renoncé à tester les desserts vu les délais de service

The menu is very much meat orientated but there are a few fish / chicken alternatives - which we had and very much enjoyed. Make sure you book; the place was full with welcoming locals which says a lot. The very good prices say a lot too.

Your establishment was recommended to us by my cousin, one of your professional acquaintances (Sylvain Gasdon in Orsay) and my son who is in BTS cooking at the Faculty of Trades who had the chance to come and do a cooking workshop with you. A superb moment that took my partner and me on a journey. A delicate cuisine, with a lot of finesse, the taste buds are awakened all this with seasonal and local cuisine. And a splendid setting. 06/04/2024: We had an excellent evening at Bistrot de Jean. First of all: the warm welcome from the team, the tastefully decorated place and above all… the quality of the cuisine!!! We feasted. Fresh and local products. Careful knowledge of the menu by the friendly waiter. It was difficult to make a choice, we took as many different dishes as possible per person to be able to taste as many as possible. Even the dressing was perfect! Best restaurant we've had in the area! Thank you all for the quality of your work, we will be back!
