14/10/2023: Magnifique lac volcanique, toujours sous surveillance car du type maar, donc phréatomagmatique et potentiellement explosif (son nom Pavin est tiré du latin pavens, épouvantable). Sa profondeur de 82 m en fait le lac le plus profond de la chaîne des Puys. Il est de formation récente, de l'ordre de 6900 ans.
C'est un lac méromictique, c'est à dire ne subissant pas de mélange des eaux plus profondément que 60 m, celles entre 60 et 92 m accumulant des gaz le gaz carbonique, l'azote, le méthane et le sulfure d'hydrogène, liés à la décomposition de la matière organique et qui lui confère une odeur nauséabonde.

From the memory of Auvergne, a sublime truffade, and a wonderful calf's head salad....all with a nice local red, a beautiful atmosphere and a visit to Besse full of happiness! Well done !

26/05/2024: Cadre agréable , mais service un peu long , choix des plats à la carte donc bien plus cher ! et très déçu par la quantité proposée , un poêle de truffade pour 3 personnes qui devait être au maximum pour deux ! Dommage ! Nous sommes du secteur mais malheureusement nous ne reviendrons pas !
10/05/2024: Great meal, we ate very well and for an affordable price (less than €30 for starter-main-dessert, and inexpensive drinks too). Good regional products on the plates. The place is pretty and the waitresses are very friendly.

20/05/2024: Excellent cuisine, at a more than affordable price. Typical decoration worthy of a pretty little farmhouse. The dishes are generous from starter to dessert.
Only two downsides, due to the fact that the room is not too big, a table of 8/10 people is enough to no longer hear each other talking.
Also I regretted seeing the waitress welcome the customers in a cold and distant manner, people without reservations, did not have time to cross the door, that from the other end of the room she asked relatively loudly "do you have reserve?" (Without a hello, without any particular interest...).
Likewise when we arrived (with reservation) she asked us from the other end of the room our name, which we did not appreciate because we had to say our name loud and clear in front of all the other customers. This welcome is for us the big downside of the time we spent in this establishment.
Don't change anything in your recipes, but add a little human warmth to this lady. Otherwise the young man present at the service was also very pleasant, which saved the overall rating a little.

03/04/2024: We had reservations for 2 people and we were served after several tables that came after us. 45 minute wait before ordering. We were not allowed the menu slate and we had the menu in paper format.
For my part, great disappointment of the real cooked truffade being served in its pan, because it was burnt.
My appetite was gone.
We only had one dish and left unhappy.

13/03/2024: Just a downside for the swimming pool not heated enough compared to last year (February 2023)
10/03/2024: We spent 4 days with our 2 and a half year old boy and were very well received. The staff is pleasant, always a kind word. The restaurant's dishes as well as the breakfast are very good. The bedding is quality. There is a swimming pool but also a table football and a ping pong table available. It feels like home. We recommend.

I ask to pay with a restaurant ticket card since it is displayed in the window: it is not possible for the snack! Certainly not enough margin on hot chocolates and pancakes 😭. So we had our other snacks at the neighbor Ho Flocon.

We stayed for 2 nights. The welcoming, smiling and attentive staff. For the restaurant, we ate very well, the breakfast lacked a bit of choice. For the rooms, we took a privilege room, a small downside for the bedding which was too soft, in the bathroom the toilet 🚽 was a little high, we were not very comfortable on it. Unfortunately due to the age of the hostel, we could hear everything from the rooms next to it 🫤. Regarding the location, it is 10 minutes by car from the station and 5 minutes from the medieval town center of Besse.

02/04/2024: Good stay after having negotiated to have an apartment with a view. We were not disappointed snow storms it was beautiful. Staff available and efficient. Pleasant resort and friendly shopkeepers. We will come back in summer. THANKS
23/03/2024: Slightly aging chalets (like the resort) which need a makeover, which is planned in the coming months I believe. Warm welcome, big plus for welcoming dogs, who are also allowed on the shuttles. Friendly staff, you can order bread for the next morning, except for Wednesday. Possibility of booking activities from reception.

26/05/2024: Very pleasant place, a friendly atmosphere with accommodating and smiling servers. In addition, the local cuisine is very good. There is a lot of choice on the menu (especially for local beers) so there is something for everyone. The prices are correct. I recommend.
25/05/2024: 1 star because I have to put a star but is not worth 1 star at all. It's a shame to serve this kind of pizza, honestly I don't even know how we can still have a restaurant with this kind of service. I don't know why I can't post a photo but frankly the pizza is ridiculous and so what's the topping?! Where is the blue cheese thrown all over the 4 cheese pizza but where did 3 hazelnuts and the leftover cheese go??????? 🤷🏻♀️ The other ham pizza, however, is the base of the pizzas, frankly diced ham (max 10) without any taste. The pizzas were tasteless anyway. Despite the lousy ration we didn't even finish our pizzas, even though we are good eaters. Honestly you should be honored to serve this. Stop catering and stay on license 4 drinking establishments you will perhaps be more in your world. Because what's more, when we arrive and all the staff are drinking leaning on the counter that says a lot...... We should have turned around but we had nothing to eat and having forgotten the lunch baby we couldn't fit in another restaurant. In short, I will never set foot there again and if I can give you some advice, avoid this “restaurant”
