15/12/2023: I don't like to criticize for the sake of criticizing but honestly we all found it very disappointing...menu for 30 euros with nothing on the plate, not even a side dish like rice or potatoes in quantity, just small stains of sauces , 2 or 3 mushrooms and 3 or 4 small potatoes. Very very disappointing and left hungry!!!!!!

20/05/2024: Located outside of the scams of St Jean de Luz, typical Basque facade and setting, correct menus, fresh produce (so not a ton of choice; normal), homemade. Came for a wedding anniversary meal, very well received by a very friendly and dynamic waitress, good wine advice! THANKS ! A cook who knows how to cook, to discover! Honestly great!

Very friendly welcome and manager.
The comfortable chalet with a neat exterior and above all games for children.
On the restaurant side, copious and excellent dishes, attentive staff like the manager.
A place to visit without hesitation.
Looking forward to seeing each other again, Idabelle and the whole team
12/05/2024: We ate very well, the eels were great. Great welcome despite the rush.
However, you must make a reservation otherwise you risk not eating. And no credit card! The restaurant is worth the detour but so are the landscapes. It is superb !

05/05/2024: The food we ordered was very delicious! Goat cheese and egg salad at low temperature with a very good spicy touch. The children's menu is also very delicious, homemade and super good value for money with dessert!! The only thing I don't like is the bullfighting decoration😵💫 otherwise recommendable! 👍 we will repeat!

20/03/2024: I tried the bodega at Gilles during restaurant week. A very tempting menu where you don't know what to choose and, in any case, you are not disappointed. All the dishes are fine and delicious. Warm but discreet service at the same time. Bonus for a great non-alcoholic cocktail of the moment, simply divine.
I can't wait to come back and taste the usual menu.

03/11/2023: Bad news, very bad news. The Battela closes its doors in its current form at the end of November. I invite all Hendayais and beyond to come and enjoy one last time. The sweetbreads returned to the menu like a final fireworks display...I tenderly thank Sébastien and Elo for their always joyful and emphatic welcome. I also thank the previous generation who were also so attentive despite the terrible and unfair hazards of life. In any case, good luck and all the best for the future. That said, I'm going to use November to share moments that are both delicious and so friendly.

12/05/2024: We had a great time. SUPZR meal at a very very fair price for a cider house. Much better than going to ASTIGARAGA, and lower cost for an excellent txuleta, great quality meat.
Very friendly welcome.
Since my visit I have sent customers and they have left delighted.
We will come back soon and we will not hesitate to share this essential ASCAIN address.

23/10/2023: Nous avons dîner un soir cadeau offert par des amis. Le cadre est magnifique l'accueil est très bon très romantique les plats sont excellents. Nous y retournerons un midi pour profiter de la jolie vu de la rivière. Nous recommandons vivement ce restaurant magnifique.
03/10/2023: Si Schubert avait mangé sa truite c’est sans conteste Arce et son vivier qu’il aurait choisi! Parfait.
