Restaurant La Bonne Bouffe sur Barbatre

Very friendly restaurant. Very good, homemade Creole cuisine. For those who wish to discover good Reunionese dishes, I highly recommend the detour. I really enjoyed it, I would happily go back and the boss is very nice.

Owner not very customer oriented. Especially when he does everything alone, as he explained to us in a slightly stressful way, you can't sit comfortably at a table with your local friends and drink your "Deserados" while our glasses were empty for about half an hour. At half past eight he decided there would be no more draft beer...🤷🏻‍♂️. The food had of course already been prepared (by him?) and tasted medium.

On Wednesday evenings in mid-September there is no longer much choice of restaurants in Barbatre. That's how we ended up in this little restaurant. We arrived at half past eight. Not yet sitting at the table, the owner explained to us that he was only open until nine o'clock and then listed the dishes he could offer us. Not being very familiar with the French language when it comes to culinary specialties, we decided on the dish, which the owner tried to explain with two index fingers on his cheeks. A guest raised his thumb in agreement, what could go wrong... We were then served pork cheeks with rice and beans with a delicious glass of white wine. Very tasty. Cooked with love. All in all, it was a successful dinner in an inconspicuous restaurant with a very nice owner. We would definitely come again.
