Le Safran sur Caen

I was curious to try the famous Safran which many consider to be the best kebab in Caen. I went there once in 2023, came back perplexed and decided to return recently to get a second opinion. This one hasn't changed. I don't understand the craze. The doner is not bad, and the ingredients are undoubtedly of good quality, but it is not very good either. Not very spicy or seasoned, the sauce does not manage to raise the level of fairly dry meat. The fries, which are completely ordinary, don't help restore the image. As for the welcome, the establishment being tiny you can more or less forget to eat on site and the service, provided by I think a couple of elderly parents and their son is friendly but not very talkative.

Le Safran, located rue Saint Sauveur, doesn't look much from the outside, but is a real gold mine for our stomachs. If Safran has several fans, I am among them. If Safran only has one fan, it’s me. Everything is homemade, the bread, the meat spit (chicken). I highly recommend this kebab (the best in Caen). The staff is very nice. The only downside is that you have to go early because sometimes they have nothing left (victim of their success).

Les propriétaires sont très courtois et depuis que j ai goûté leur kebab je ne vais plus autre part. Tout est nickel au niveau propreté. Je recommande.
