Le Lion d'Or sur Amboise

Welcome, service and cuisine...everything is great! We chose the flavor menu: research into the combination of flavors and presentation of the plates...a feast for the palate and the eyes!! Highly recommended Good luck to the whole team

Worth a dedicated trip to Amboise Our AirBnB host recommended this place even it was not on the list of restaurant choices we researched. The surprise started with a leek soup and we wiped clean all dishes! We ordered a three course Menu Saveurs (“Flavors Menu” or perhaps special menu) for 42 euros, paired with a 2022 chenin Pierre (sauvignon blanc?) from a local vineyard Touraine Amboise (33 euro). The starter was a smoked trout tartar, main course is stuffed chicken (Medallion of poultry), and 4 cheese plate. Vegetables were very fresh, cooking was perfect, and excellent presentations. The wine topped it out - I gather we would spent 4 times in the US for the same quality. Our server was just great. The setting is on the formal side with spacious layout compared with other restaurants we visited in Loire Valley, and the location is not in the touristy drab (Pl. Michel Debré), and thus is a welcome change to typical busy venues with tourist hordes.

It is the third time we go, the first was good, the second better and the third at the same level

My seafood dish was good, but my husband's rooster dish was OK. Although the presentation of the dessert was nice, it didn't taste good. The small bowl of appetizer had a complex taste which was nice. Beside us, there were 3 more couples dining. The chair was a bit tall and uncomfortable for me ( I am about 1,65)

Excellent Valentine’s Day evening. Tasty cuisine with food combinations. The truffle cheese croque is a treat. And the dessert is an explosion in the mouth. Thank you Stéphane for treating us like this.

J'ai découvert ce restaurant de qualité Dimanche 19 Octobre. Accueil chaleureux par la patronne. Cuisine raffinée, fine, et originale, plats présentés avec goût, service avec bon suivi. Prix : rapport qualité, prix, rien à redire , mérité. J'y retournerai. Une excellente adresse. Et un cadre classe. Seul bémol : manque de nappe blanche et brouhaha d'un groupe bavard. Bravo au chef cuisinier, à l'hôtesse, et au service.
