Auberge de l'Hirondelle sur Albertville

Restaurant where you eat very well, the place is quite old school, it feels like grandma's. Super friendly service, an old-fashioned restaurant with friendly cuisine, according to the manager the restaurant will be closed, it's a shame given the quality of the dishes offered. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed. Restaurants like this are rare and authentic.

Don't stop at the facade, decoration in its traditional cuisine carried out with a master's hand by a chef concerned about the taste pleasure of his customers. The manager has a strong character, it goes well or not... too bad

Hostel discovered not by chance. A little vintage side in terms of decoration but it feels like home. We had a blast. It was really good! THANKS ! We will be happy to come back when we are in the area!😊

The Ski Queens of 2024 Aka The Real Housewives of Meribel, were bound for the mountains and slopes of Les Troi Vallées, looking ahead to our fabulous catered chalet, our gorjuzz dinner and our hot tub, overlooking the mountains. Early start. Great little flight from Manchester to Grenoble. All was well… And then…an hour into our transfer, we got stuck in the most awful traffic jam on the way to Meribel. A rock slide on the main highway no less. In an attempt to avoid the worst, our wonderful lady coach driver left the highway and took us down an alternative route. And, like most well intentioned short cuts, it turned out to be the polar opposite. Stationary. For 3hrs. Yup. 3 hrs. Using a nook behind the local church for a ‘p’ stop kinda stationary. You get the idea. Anyhoo, after 3hrs of not going anywhere anytime soon, myself and another member of our party, we’ll call him ‘Mike,’ decided we’d like ti stretch our legs and also hunt down the toilets we’d heard about, on the stationary traffic grapevine. So, off we trod, to stretch our legs - and to find a loo. Car after stationary car after bus after stationary car again, we happened upon a little unnasuming place called Auberge De L’Hirondelle. Toilets!!! Mission accomplished. It was it? A cunning plan was forming in ‘Mike’s’ mind. “We’ll, the traffic ain’t moving anywhere anytime soon so let’s pop in for a drink.” Cut to 3hrs later, and the arrival of the rest of the ‘housewives’… Well, I’ll leave the rest to the annals of history. Thank you to everyone at Auberge de l’hirondelle for looking after us weary travellers. We had the best of times. Our only regret is that the coach finally caught up with us and we had to leave. When we’re sat in our hot tub tomorrow, or jumping up and down like fools, spilling our beer at Folie Douce we will reminisce over the wonderful wee sojourn we had at Auberge de l’hirondelle. If you ever find yourself in this little part of France, stuck in traffic or not. do pay this place a visit. It is an absolute delight. Merci beaucoup From the Real Housewives of Meribel

Stumbled on this restaurant/bar whilst waiting in traffic for over 7 hours. If only we found it sooner rather than being stuck on the road. Despite the very 1990s decor, and the language barrier for us British folks, we were very well looked after: staff were excellent and were very hospitable. The cold cut meats were delicious. The host and the chef (possibly the owner too) were delightful and we would happily return if the next occasion allowed us.

We regularly try and go here when travelling to or from the mountains on holiday, it's often filled with locals but not far off the motorway. The food is always delicious and fresh, the menus have lots of choice for the 20 euro fixed price and the kids get a good choice too. The staff are accommodating and I enjoy trying my rusty French with them. The four of us enjoyed a three course meal with drinks for 65 euros. We'll be back!

Atypique, des tenanciers d'une gentillesse incroyable et une cuisine hors norme. Quel bon moment passé dans cette auberge !
