A recently renovated hotel, very quiet, the rooms very pleasant and comfortable! The owners are very nice, and attentive to customers, it was possible to make a completely vegan meal for my colleague. Homemade meals, delicious, with good products! A hotel to go to with complete peace of mind to spend great nights :)

We RECOMMEND a stay at this hotel without any hesitation! It’s even worth a little detour! This hotel now lives up to its name very well... Based on previous reviews, this establishment seemed to be a disaster. After a change of owners and renovation work, it has now become a great hotel! The rooms are brand new, bright, quiet, well equipped and absolutely clean! The hotel is very, very well run by an absolutely exquisite young couple: gentle, welcoming, outgoing, helpful, accommodating, deeply kind and competent (description of the wine worthy of a sommelier!). They know their region and give it good, justified publicity and the mother in the kitchen makes delicious family cuisine but not too traditional either. Lentil dahl and delicious duck parmentier. A family room for €100 at the last minute, a 3-course evening menu for €20 and a hearty all-you-can-eat breakfast for €10: I don't see how we can do better...! Absolutely delighted by this fabulous experience. I weighed each of my words and this opinion is shared by all three of us. It's a shame that this little village is so isolated, but easy to find because the hotel is located at the station where very few trains pass or stop. Plentiful and free parking. We wish them very good luck and lots of courage for the difficult experience they have undertaken to take over a business in such a state, reading the negative reviews: it's day and night! Full of happiness in this beautiful experience. Go there in large numbers and without any fear!!

Don't look at the 3.3 rating It comes from the previous owners This young couple started again not long ago Very quiet hotel, comfortable room Great welcome Excellent fresh, homemade meal Very good stopover, I will come back and easily make the detour to stop in this small hotel which lives up to its name 😁

Top hotel for a shopping stop, pleasant, quiet room, well-stocked breakfast. Wireless. Fully renovated. Possibility of catering on site (not tested) and basic fit room 3 minutes by car. I'll be back !

Nice stopover on our return. Tip top welcome, comfortable room, no noise being at the end of a dead end (no trucks) Very correct breakfast. Free parking. Unfortunately we were unable to try the restaurant next time. Stop renewing. Good luck and courage for the rest of the work.

10/12/2023: Very nice shaded terrace. Very beautiful restaurant room with white tablecloths, candlesticks and silver cutlery. Beautiful mismatched old crockery. Excellent welcome and then... Very good gourmet cuisine, with good sauces, very respectable quantities and original flavors of good taste! I highly recommend !

Chateau de La Borde

16/05/2024: Perfect for transit & enjoyment, dogs extremely welcome! Super nice! What a great location, what nice hosts, what a great gastronomic concept, how loving towards our dog! At least 11 out of 10 stars. About the details: Like all the other guests that evening, we were passing through because the hotel is ideally located on the route from Spain/Portugal/Southern France to Germany. We - like other guests - travel with dogs and are therefore always looking for accommodations that are REALLY dog-friendly. A corresponding surcharge like here (15 €/night) is absolutely fine. The Château de la Borde is located on the edge of Ussel in nature, directly on a small river, forest and meadows. The railway line next door is hardly used, we noticed one or two local trains (no high-speed trains, no freight trains). The building was lovingly renovated over around 20 years and has 6 different rooms. According to conversations with the other guests, they were all great, just like ours: clean, modern, optimally equipped and absolutely quiet. Romantic anyway, because everything in this little castle is really fantastic. We recommend eating there too. Pierre prepares a 3-course menu every day upon advance order, which he keeps chilled in the dining room. You take the ceramic containers and simply serve it to yourself at the already set table, take wine, water or beer and enjoy excellent cuisine. You can warm up the hot dishes yourself in the microwave. Don't worry, it's anything but uncool - the food is attractively arranged in the fridge on ceramic plates with lids and heated to perfection with chef Pierre's perfect settings. Our pork loin with green lentils and a delicate horseradish sauce was delicate pink and simply perfect. The wine chosen was also perfect. €20 per person for dinner is incredible value for money.
